Clackamas County
Regional Broadband Workshop
(To the Workshop
page)
Objectives
of the workshop:
- The objective of the workshop is to educate the participants
about telecommunications issues and initiatives through discussion of real
example projects from all corners of Oregon.
- Our intent is to have people leave the workshop energized
and empowered (not overwhelmed!). Keep it light!
- We hope that participants will learn practical techniques
for telecommunications planning and project development at the community
level.
The
Audience:
- We anticipate the audience to be non-technical, but concerned
about access to affordable advanced telecommunications in their communities.
- Your presentation should be in plain English, avoiding
jargon, technical terms, and acronyms. When this is unavoidable, be prepared
to provide a definition.
- The audience is likely to be more interested in stories
drawn from your experience and less interested in hypothetical or abstract
examples or theoretical opinions.
Your
introduction:
- It is our intent to accurately identify each panelist
in the most useful manner possible for the audience and encourage workshop
participants to continue the dialog after the meeting by providing contact
information. Please complete the following form:
(Important! After you have complete all
of the input forms on this
page, use the "submit" button at the bottom of this page)
- Your 'bio' - We would like
to provide a brief biographical sketch of each panelist to help the audience
"get to know you". We suggest that the bio be around 100 words,
include what you feel have been important or formative events in your life
or career, and a statement about why you are interested or concerned about
telecommunications. (In the interest of conserving time at the workshop,
the introductory information may be made available to the audience in hard
copy.)
(Important! After you have complete all
of the input forms on this

Your

(5 to 10 minutes).
- We encourage the use of visual aids or hand-outs (see
below).
- Introduce yourself and what you do for your organization.
- Tell the story of how your community or organization
came to develop your project or initiative.
- Explain the present status of your project or initiative
and what you think are the issues that remain to resolved.
Panel
discussion:
- The moderator will pose questions for discussion by the
whole panel.
- Panelists may ask follow-up questions of one another
based on the individual presentations or the moderator's comments.
- Keep you response (and questions!) brief (no more than
three sentences or one minute) to allow for others to make input and to
keep the discussion conversational.
Audience
questions:
- After the panel has concluded its discussion, the moderator
will invite audience questions.
- Allow for the moderator to repeat the question or redirect
the question to a panelist.
- Keep you response brief (no more than three sentences

your prepared remarks, etc.
