[About Oregon Telcom]

The quality of Oregon's future may depend upon communications technology and how we, as Oregon citizens, choose to use it. Oregon Telcom was formed to explore alternatives and advocate discussion of four aspects of this challenge:

  • Their shared Future -- High-speed connectivity available throughout the state that is affordable and reliable.
Communications is the key to overcoming differences between urban and rural populations in a large and geographically diverse state and building consensus for the future.
  • Economy -- Oregon-based industry creating innovative technologies and world-leading products.
Perched on the Pacific Rim, Oregon is a gateway between the nation and the world and must be prepared to compete and thrive in a world economy. We are part of a changing world and must participate by being actively productive, not by passively watching industries, corporate headquarters and jobs exported elsewhere.
  • Education -- Applying technology for superior educational opportunity and workforce proficiency.
Oregon must find an alternative path to educational excellence in order to counter the downward spiral created by rising costs and lowered expectations in public education.
  • Services -- Technology solutions for superior health care, government and public safety services.
Efficiency through technology is the only available remedy for an increased need for services in a time of shrinking resources.
